Why a plain roller works so well on this beach

A roller blind is a single flat fabric sheet on a tube — no folds, no bulk, nothing to catch the wind indoors. On the wide glass most Bloubergstrand lounges are built around, that simplicity is the whole point: sunscreen mesh in a 3-5% openness holds the Table Mountain view across the bay while cutting the glare that bounces straight off open water most afternoons here, harder than it does on a sheltered inland window.

Blockout, sunscreen, or both on one bracket

Bedrooms usually want blockout — full dark regardless of what the beach path outside is doing. A double roller pairs a sunscreen layer with a blockout layer on the same bracket, so the same window gives you the view during the day and complete privacy after dark, without swapping anything by hand unless you choose to.

Fitted for the wind, not just the window

Roller blinds live indoors, so they don't take the south-easter head-on the way an exterior product does — but a wide span on a glass box near Big Bay still needs proper engineering: a central join line or motorised linked blinds rather than one chain trying to control several metres of fabric. We spec that at the measure, not after the fabric's cut.
