Blinds & awnings for Melkbosstrand

Further up the same stretch of West Coast, a quieter, lower-density village character than Bloubergstrand's busier beachfront — the same wind and salt brief, a more settled, garden-facing style of house.

A village, not a beachfront strip

Melkbosstrand sits further north on the same coastline, but it reads differently on the ground — single-storey and double-storey homes on generous plots, more garden between the house and the road, and a quieter pace than the apartment-and-glass-box strip around Big Bay. Window briefs here are more often about a garden-facing lounge or a street-facing bedroom than a single dominant mountain-view wall.

The same wind, less of the tourist traffic

Melkbosstrand catches the same south-easter and winter storms as Bloubergstrand — this is still open West Coast, not a sheltered inland suburb — so the wind-rating and marine-grade hardware argument carries over in full. What's different is the volume of exterior products: fewer wide, wind-exposed patio walls, more standard-width awnings and roller shutters over individual house-scale openings.

Older and newer stock side by side

Like Bloubergstrand itself, Melkbosstrand mixes older coastal cottages with newer family houses, so we measure each property on its own terms — a retrofit into an existing frame is as common a job here as a new-build spec.

At a glance
  • Garden-facing and street-facing briefs more common than a single view wall
  • Same south-easter and winter storm exposure as Bloubergstrand
  • House-scale awnings and shutters, not wide apartment-block glass
  • Older cottages and newer builds both common — measured individually
